BAUMANN/GLAS/1886 GmbH, based in Upper Austria, has been a quality leader in glass roof, conservatory and façade construction, panoramic glazing, louvre windows and glass processing for more than 140 years. The family-run company’s customers include well-known clients from trade and industry, public institutions and private individuals from Austria and abroad. Under the motto “The more special, the BAUMANN”, mastering special challenges in glass construction is one of the company’s core competencies. An impressive example of this is the spectacular renovation of the glass façade of the historic Palm House at Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna.

We were able to achieve this:

  • Setup and provision of the quick&proper BAUMANN Online Campus.

  • Drafting company-specific data protection and terms of use for participants in online training courses.

  • Roll-out of e-learning courses on occupational health and safety, including forklift instruction, fall protection during assembly work, use of protective equipment, apprentice training.

  • Automated generation of certificates of attendance for graduates.

Initial situation

Occupational safety and accident prevention are a top priority at BAUMANN/GLAS/1886. Employees in the assembly area are generally working outdoors, which makes face-to-face instruction difficult. Existing training documents on occupational health and safety should be converted into online training courses. It should be ensured that innovations and changes can be incorporated flexibly and quickly into the e-learning courses. Participation in training courses should be evaluated and verifiable through certificates.

Approach

  • Set-up of the BAUMANN Online Campus according to the specifications of the management and the safety expert.

  • Train the trainer: Training of the safety specialist for the creation of e-learning courses based on Power Point presentations set to music.

  • Advice on the purchase and use of audio technology for the dubbing of presentations and videos.

  • Remote support for setting up certificates of attendance and the certificate process for graduates of e-learning courses.

  • Regular remote updates and support calls with the safety expert responsible for the BAUMANN Campus.

Results of the project

  • Company-specific e-learning course program on occupational safety: To date, a total of 16 distance learning courses on occupational safety have been created and rolled out.

  • Independent production of content: BAUMANN/GLAS/1886 creates its own learning materials, video tutorials and learning control questions.

  • Documentation of instructions: The safety specialist and the management can provide evidence of training courses at any time.
